Blue Start Incubator
How joining Blue Start actually works.
No mystery, no black box. Here's exactly what happens between a first conversation and becoming part of Blue Start, and roughly what to expect at each step. The Blue Start FAQ covers the details.
From first conversation to fully on board.
Every professional follows the same path. Some steps move quickly, others take a little longer depending on what you bring to the table. Nothing happens without you knowing what's next.
It starts with a conversation
It starts with a real conversation about your background, what you're looking for, and whether Blue Start makes sense for where you're headed. From there, the process is written down and the same for everyone.
If a specific client or opportunity comes up in detail before anything is signed, a simple mutual non-disclosure agreement comes first.
Getting to know how Vibrant Blue works
You'll receive the Contractor Handbook to review, so you know how engagements, payment, insurance, and support work before committing to anything. You'll also complete a short intake form about your background, expertise, and working style, along with a request for a current resume and a professional headshot.
Deciding it's a fit, together
Once both sides have what they need, there's a conversation about whether to move forward. It goes both ways: if it's not the right fit, you'll hear it directly, and there's no obligation in either direction up to this point.
Building your professional profile
From your intake form, resume, and headshot, a draft profile is prepared with you: your title, a short bio, and your areas of expertise. You review and approve it, and it's yours to use on your own website, LinkedIn, and proposals.
Making it official
A straightforward conversation about terms: your rate, how you want to be paid, and the specifics of your agreement. You'll receive the completed Independent Contractor Agreement to review and ask questions about before signing electronically.
Alongside the agreement come a handful of standard items: the Data Security Policy and a signed acknowledgment, the Code of Conduct and Privacy Notice, your W-9, and your payment preferences. For insurance, a quote for general and professional liability coverage, or proof you can obtain it, is enough at signing. Active coverage is required before any Statement of Work is issued or any work begins. If an engagement requires a background check, that's walked through directly and transparently before anything starts, and the cost is never yours: the client or Vibrant Blue covers it.
- Per-engagement scoping, not open-ended commitments
- Ongoing support from someone who's made this transition
- A support network of professionals who have made the move
